Death and Taxes hits Communication Arts
Image of Death and Taxes in Communication Arts

For the first time in its storied history, GS Design was featured in the November 2007 edition of the highly esteemed Communication Arts Design Annual. The full-page highlight was awarded to the 2007 self-promotional DEATH and TAXES, which shipped prior to Tax Day and was intended to help recipients get out of paying their due to the government.

From the magazine:
DEATH and TAXES was our way to make light of a bummer “holiday.” The idea spawned from a roundtable discussion on how to spin a clever angle on the dreaded Tax Day. The question became, How does one get out of paying taxes? The answer? Fake your own death. Included in the overtly melodramatic vaudevillian kit you’ll find all you need to live this holiday (and thus, the rest of your life) to the fullest.

YWS Architects
YWS Architects

After six years in business, premier architectural firm YWS Architects hired GS Design to update its corporate brand identity. To do so, GS gained a thorough understanding of the firm’s national and international competitors, as well as definitive knowledge of existing YWS client perceptions.

The new identity – updated from YWS’s original look, also the work of GS Design – embodies a more refined, sophisticated character realized in a logo; website; corporate ID materials such as letterhead, business cards, envelopes, fax sheets, etc.; and unique hardcover “brochure” designed not only to showcase the firm’s various completed projects, but offer an intimate portrait of the partners themselves and the warm environment they’ve created for those who form the YWS team. www.YWSarchitects.com

Fuell Fuell Magazine Redesigned

Buell Motorcycle Company asked GS Design to give its owners-only publication, Fuell, a complete design overhaul. GS delivered with a slick magazine designed to reflect the aesthetics of the Buell product and better meet the expectations of Buell motorcycle owners.

Kalmbach Kalmbach Publishing

Kalmbach Publishing Co. wanted to increase subscriptions and product sales, so the company hired GS to re-architect and redesign four of its websites. One of the goals was to build a robust online community and interactive experience through online tools such as blogs, forums, online profiles, user galleries, etc. Since the new sites launched, online sales of magazine subscriptions have seen double digit growth, and the community features have seen active use.
