GS Open House Celebrates Website Launch and Capabilities Brochure Release

Never passing up an opportunity to host a party, GS opened its doors Thursday, April 21 and invited guests to check out our new digs. While a recently renovated workspace is the perfect reason to invite hundreds of our closest clients, prospective clients, and vendors over for a look-see, it wasn't the only reason for this open house.

"This redesign will give people a better understanding of who GS Design is," Jason Evans, Director of Interactive Services, said of the website. "It'll allow them in-depth access to our crew, our workspace, and, of course ... our work."

Jeff Prochnow, Co-owner and Principal of GS, was quite pleased with the party's impressive turnout - and eager to share his enthusiasm for the future of the ever-growing company. "This is an exciting time for GS," he said. "Since November, we've nearly doubled in size, revamped our office space, completed our capabilities brochure, and redesigned our website ... that's pretty good, even for a firm that's constantly reinventing itself."

FEATURED CLIENT: GS Adds Flash to Harley-Davidson Online Annual Report

The recent publication of Harley-Davidson's 2004 Annual Report required an interactive counterpart, and for the fourth consecutive year Harley-Davidson selected GS Design to do the job. GS teamed with Harley-Davidson to develop a comprehensive online version that reflected the style of the printed piece, while adding an interactive element by incorporating a Flash presentation of the editorial content.

"To be a part of working on the Harley-Davidson Online Annual Report is very rewarding for GS Design," said Scott Kurtz, Director of Interactive Strategy. "We know how important and timely the information is to H-D, and welcome the challenge of a fast-paced, detail-oriented project."

Also available as an HTML document, the online 2004 Annual Report makes crucial Motor Company business information available to H-D's shareholders, as well as to the general public.

Getting in Touch with Our Feminine Side

Wisconsin Pharmacal Company hired GS to design an effective yet attractive brand for its new Beyond Fresh Intimates line of feminine care daily-use products - and address the positioning dilemma of sharing retail space with products women purchase only when "absolutely necessary."

"Our goal was to keep things simple," says Art Director Deb Nevsimal, who headed up the project. The Beyond Fresh Intimates line includes Skin Conditioner, Feminine Wash, and Shave and Shower Gel - daily pampering products that will be located in the Problem/Solution aisle in Wal-Mart and other major retail outlets.

Rather than hide the product inside a carton, GS thought it best to make use of the bottle's unique shape. A clear label with a soft, curvaceous graphic treatment allows view of the products' palette of vibrant colors.

"The result," says Deb, "is a brand that carves a niche for itself in an aisle of products that may be embarrassing for a woman to buy."

Bringing Better Healthcare Closer to Home

Never has it been easier to access important comparative healthcare data - thanks to the website GS designed and built for Wisconsin Collaborative for Healthcare Quality (WCHQ).

A state-based organization of healthcare providers, WCHQ is dedicated to improving the quality and value of healthcare in Wisconsin. By developing and providing verifiable performance measures, the Collaborative helps Wisconsin citizens make informed healthcare decisions.

"Usability was crucial in creating this site," says Joel Walker, Project Manager. "The amount of data that's available can be rather daunting. But we put together a site that makes it all very manageable."

The website features a set of interactive reports that allow users to compare physician groups, hospitals, and health plans on more than 40 performance measures.

Congratulations to E. Miller & Associates who recently won a NARI Contractor of the Year (COTY) Award for Commercial Interior Space for its architectural design of the GS office.
